การทำงานในโปรแกรมออกแบบ 3D ทั่วไปจะมีการทำงานในมุมมองทั้งแบบ 2D (Two Dimensions) และ 3D (Three Dimensions) โดยการทำงานในมุมมอง 2D นั้น การทำงานจะอ้างอิงกับเส้นแกน 2 เส้น เช่น X,Y หรือ X,Z
มุมมองการทำงานแบบ 2D จะมีอยู่ด้วยกัน 6 มุมมองคือ ด้านบน (Top) ด้านหน้า (Front) ด้านขวา (Right) ด้านหลัง (Back) ด้านซ้าย (Left) และด้านล่าง (Bottom)
ซึ่งถ้าเราทำงานในมุมมองด้านซ้ายหรือด้านขวาก็จะอ้างอิงการทำงานกับแกน Y (แกนสีเขียว) และแกน Z คือ(แกนสีน้ำเงิน)
ส่วนสำหรับการทำงานในรูปแบบ 3D นั้นจะทำงานกับแกนอ้างอิงทั้ง 3 แกนคือ X,Y และ Z ซึ่งก็คือมุมมองแบบ ISO นั่นเอง
